September 2011 Pre-op

'What's up my ladies'

Colton started his day at 4:05am. Mommy's alarm woke him up. As always though he simply laid in bed 'talking' to himself waiting for someone to come start his day. Mommy went in and picked him up. Of course Colton is ALL smiles and cuddles. He finishes his milk for breakfast and daddy and mommy pack up and we are all on our way! 2 hours later we arrive at Children's Hospital Boston.
We first have to go to register for tomorrow. The gentleman that does this is awesome. He remembered mommy from Colton's cath in June! Now off to the 2nd floor of the Farley building. This is where the cardiologist department is. Down the hall to Pre-op! This is where we report to everytime we finish a step. Ashley tells us how things will go today and gives us our first assingment. X-ray!
Daddy and Colton in x-ray waiting room. Colton is working on his running!

Colton being his flirty self! He is blowing kisses to all his girlfriends and fans!

"LET ME GO! You won't catch me! LET ME GO!"

They call 'Colton Witschey' but daddy and mommy are to busy talking about how good and cute he is to notice! But back we go! Colton does not like beign held with his arms over his head for his x-ray but that is how he has to be to get a good look at his lungs. They look at his lungs to make sure they are clear and healthy for surgery.

Daddy did the holding. And Colton did not even blink a tear! YAY COLTON!

Back to home base.

We get back and go again... This time to get blood work done. This is the part mommy dislikes the most!

As soon as he is laid down he knows something is up. Poor baby boy!
The one down fall to being a cubby chunk of a meatball is that it is VERY hard to find those veins. Not only did they have to stick him 3 TIMES but each time they stuck him they had to search. After the first 2 they went to get a different person. NEXT TIME daddy and mommy will make sure someone who is VERY experienced does the blood drawl. Mommy did ask but the blood was a must have.
Even though he wasn't supposed to nap MOMMY decided this one was very much deserves!

We talk to a nurse and a few other fellows and doctors. So that they can learn more about Colton and we can learn more about what is going to happen tomorrow. Daddy and mommy are pros. Not many questions because this surgery is a lot like part of the surgery he had in January and a lot less invasive.

After a lot of talking we go in to the Cardiology doctor area for Colton's sedated echocardiogram. While waiting Colton decides that he deserves another nap and is going to take it no matter what I do. The good news is he took the sedation medicine and out he was!

After his sedated echo we go back to home base! Now just to talk to Dr. Rathod (his Boston Cardiologist). While waiting we find out that Dr. R is out of town and one of his associates will be up.

I hear Meghan on the phone talking about a "he" and that "they were still in here". "His levels are lower then what we expected. Since Dr. Rathod is out of town Dr. Baird (Colton's surgeon) has to make the desicion" I get excited but try not to since I do not know for sure. The phone rings. Ashley answers. Ashley tells Meghan it is Dr. Baird. Meghan talks for a minute about pressure and levels and then. "Yes I will tell them and if they have questions I will call you back and you can come up"

Meghan comes out of the fish tank and says "I have some good news. Colton's right blood pressures are lower then expected along with his out flow restriction levels. This means he will not be needing surgery tomorrow!"

Mommy is ready to run! I think I could have ran all around that hospital! We are going HOME! And NOT returning TOMORROW!
HOME!! HOME!!! HOME here we come!

Mommy rode in the back with Big C because he was still pretty out of it from the medicine. But as soon as we get moving he is wake and smiling! HE KNOWS!!!

What a great day yesterday was. Wish we could have done without the blood stickS but all in all the day was a great success!

Always remember HE IS BLOWING KISSES TO YOU!!!
